What Meerada Tribes is

Meerada Tribes is a location-based social app: live groups ("Tribes") around you, a radar of nearby members, city events, step and floor leagues with friends you approve, and Teeby, an AI assistant. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.

Information we collect

• Phone number — used to sign in (one-time code by SMS or voice call via Twilio) and to let contacts who already know your number find you. You can also enter anonymously and verify later; some actions require a verified number.
• Profile — display name, optional bio, photos, language, and the settings you choose (visible or anonymous on the radar, who may see your steps).
• Location — approximate or precise, only while you use the app (no background location). It powers the radar, nearby Tribes and events, arrival notices, and the "Bump" pairing (which uses your position for a few seconds). You can switch the radar off at any time.
• Contacts (optional) — with your permission we match phone numbers against members so you can find friends; we do not upload names or message your contacts without you pressing send.
• Fitness data — daily step counts and floors climbed read from your phone's own sensors (Android step counter and barometer; Apple CoreMotion). Shared only with the people and groups you explicitly approve. Turning the step counter off stops collection; history you already have is kept until you delete it.
• Content you create — messages, posts, photos, voice notes, reactions, shared lists.
• Device and usage data — push token, app version, crash and diagnostics data, app interaction analytics (Firebase Analytics), and the Advertising ID for measuring ad campaigns. Nothing here is sold.

How we use it

• To run the service: sign-in, matching you with people and groups nearby, delivering messages and notifications.
• To power features you turn on: step leagues, walking groups, calendar sync, arrival notices, Bump.
• Teeby and in-app AI characters: your messages to them are sent to AI model providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google) to generate replies. Providers process this data under their API terms and do not use it to train their models.
• Safety: moderation, blocking and reporting tools, abuse prevention.
• Improvement: aggregated analytics and crash reports.

Where it lives and who sees it

Data is stored with Supabase (PostgreSQL, EU region) with row-level security. Service providers we rely on: Supabase (database, storage), Twilio (verification codes), Expo and Firebase (push notifications and analytics), Google Play and Apple (distribution), and the AI providers above. We do not sell personal data and we do not share it with advertisers.

Other members see only what you choose: your radar presence (visible or anonymous), your profile, your messages in groups you join, and your steps only for people or walking groups you approved.

Your choices and rights

• Change radar visibility, step sharing, and permissions at any time in the app or in your phone's settings.
• Delete your account from Profile → Settings, or email us. Deletion removes your profile, messages, steps history and contacts matches within 30 days (backups may persist up to 90 days).
• Request a copy or correction of your data by email.
• EU/EEA and Israeli residents have the rights provided by GDPR and the Israeli Privacy Protection Law; contact us to exercise them.

Children

Meerada Tribes is for users aged 18 and over.

We will post updates here and, for material changes, notify you in the app.
